   Rev. Dr. Lillian Daniel

Lillian Daniel has served as the Senior Minister of First Congregational Church, UCC, in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, since 2004, after serving as the Senior Minister of the Church of the Redeemer, in New Haven, Connecticut.

A frequent speaker around the country, she has taught preaching at Yale Divinity School, the University of Chicago Divinity School and the Chicago Theological Seminary, where she serves on the Board of Trustees.

She is also the co-host for the television program “30 Good Minutes” which airs on Sundays at 5 pm on Chicago’s WTTW/Ch.11.  Featuring the leading voices in religion today, those programs are available at 30goodminutes.org.

Daniel is the author of two books, This Odd and Wondrous Calling: the Public and Private Lives of Two Ministers (2009) and Tell It Like It Is: Reclaiming the Practice of Testimony, (2004.) A frequent contributor to the Christian Century Magazine, she also writes for Leadership Magazine, and preaching periodicals such as the Journal for Preachers and the Biblical Preaching Journal. You can also find her messages in our denomination's popular e-mail Daily Devotionals.

A graduate of Bryn Mawr College, Yale Divinity School and Hartford Seminary, she is married to Lou Weeks, a labor union organizer.  Reverend Daniel is the proud mother of two teenagers, Calvin and Abigail Weeks. She is also the proud owner of two perfect cats, Juno and Jezebel, and the not-so-proud owner of two badly behaved dogs, Lucky and Bruno, who basically run the household.
