Pre-Confirmation - is designed for seventh graders. The youth in this class will explore and understand the importance of myth. Given that we live in a multicultural world, the youth will look at the relationships between the Christian faith story and the stories of other faith traditions. They will also go in depth with characters and events found in the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament). The curriculum is designed to be interactive utilizing video and audio clips youth may encounter in popular culture.

The Confirmation program is open to anyone 8th grade or older who wishes to learn more about God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, the Church and the United Church of Christ. The confimation class provides young people with the opportunity to prepare themselves for confirming their faith and becoming members of the United Church of Christ. Each confirmand is required to select a sponsor who will help them through the 6 to 7 month process. The Confirmation program requires a high commitment from class members, their families, and their sponsor.

Monthly Crosswalk Dinners are an excellent opportunity for confirmands to connect w/ their sponsors, build relationships, and reflect upon some of the things they’ve learned in class—as well as prepare for their faith papers. Confirmands and Sponsors are expected to attend all Crosswalk Dinners.

Church Visits
Being as Confirmation is the process of confirming oneself in a particular religious tradition, we feel it is important that confirmands have an understanding of the United Church of Christ in the wider context of Christianity. As such, Confirmands are expected to participate in Sunday morning field trips to other Christian churches.

Faith Reflection Project
In Confirmation you examine and question the teachings of our faith. By completeing teh faith refelction assignment you will present your thougths about our faith. You will include your ideas about the Trinity (God, Jesus, Holy Spiirt), the Chruch (Christian & UCC, Ministry, Service), the Bible, and Sin, Evil & Forgiveness. The project is due on Sunday, April 12th, 2009.
